Velia, Marisa and Sandra are three sisters living in Northern Italy. While Marisa is trying to move on after a failed marriage, Velia works as a university teacher and Sandra is a pre-med student. Both Velia and Maria fall in love with Massimo, an intelligent and generous man, who however soon goes back to his wife. Sandra’s boyfriend, a med school professor, dies in a car accident. Life is not quite giving to their brother either, a successful violinist who gives up his artistic career for a full-time bank job.
